Chargeable weight: the weight a shipment is billed on
Chargeable weight is the weight used to calculate a shipment's rate: the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight, rounded up to the rate's weight band.
Cross-border rates are published by weight band (up to 0.5 kg, up to 1 kg, and so on). The chargeable weight determines which band each parcel falls in.
Two parcels with the same actual weight can pay different rates if one is bulkier. And a parcel weighing 1.02 kg can fall into the 1.5 kg band: rounding matters.

How Chargeable weight works in our operation
MailAmericas' rate cards are presented by weight band, with an "each additional X kg" row to extrapolate above the tabulated range. Each parcel's chargeable weight is calculated at the origin hub, when it is weighed and measured.

What if the declared weight does not match the weight measured at the hub?
The measured weight is billed. That is why the weight and dimensions loaded in the system should be real, not estimated.
