Redelivery attempt: how many are made and what happens next
A redelivery attempt is a new visit to the buyer's address after a failed attempt, scheduled by the operator automatically or at the buyer's request.
The usual policy is two or three attempts on different days, with prior notice. Once attempts are exhausted, the parcel is kept at a pickup point for a period or returned to origin.
A good redelivery system lets the buyer choose a day and time window, or change the address, instead of repeating the same visit.

What happens if I am not home when the parcel arrives?
The courier leaves a notice and a redelivery is scheduled. In several cities the buyer can choose the day or collect at a nearby point.
