Shipment consolidation: what it is and why it lowers the cost

Consolidation is grouping many parcels from different sellers into a single international load, transporting them together and splitting them up only in the destination country.

A single parcel travelling by international courier pays a high individual rate. When hundreds of parcels travel in the same bag or pallet, the freight cost is shared among all of them.

Consolidation happens at an origin hub: parcels are received, checked, grouped by destination and prepared with the documentation for the whole load.

How Consolidation works in our operation

MailAmericas consolidates at its origin hubs (China, the United States, Europe) and dispatches loads by destination on a regular schedule. For the seller, the effect is a lower per-parcel rate than an individual courier, with no change to their operation.

Frequently asked question

Does consolidation add delay?

It adds the time to complete the load, which with regular departures is measured in hours or a few days. That time is already included in the published transit time.
